I miei?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND FRIENDSHIP

Tell us about yourself (age, where do you live and job...)
Your studies and your professional training

Hello. My name is Weronika Kosińska and I live in Krakow, Poland. I am beauty and fashion photographer, but I also work as an editor in a publishing house. I graduated in philosophy, but as you can, I don’t do anything connected to it. As for the photography, I am a self-taught, I didn’t go to any school. I fell in love with shooting and I just kept doing it, learning from my own mistakes, people I know, books etc.

When you decided to become a professional photographer?

I don’t know where is the magic border between being a professional photographer and not professional one. But I started to take beauty and fashion photography three years ago and with time I got better and better at it, started to publish my work and gain clients.

Pros and cons?

Photography is my passion, so I don’t see many cons. J I simply love shooting and I hope this won’t go away. It is sometimes frustrating (when everything goes wrong, makeup doesn’t look good, clothes don’t fit, model gets an allegry, suddenly it starts raining wheen it supposed to be a sunny day etc.), sometimes exhausting, but still – I love it!

Can You tell us about how the work of a fashion photographer? And how do you create a publishing project or a cover?

Every shooting is different. I create a lot of my personal projects and try to publish them afterwards – most of the time I succeed. But some shootings are planned by clients and then the whole team has to follow moodboards and storyboards. It all depends on the shooting. Of course a shooting planned by someone else demands more compromises, but it also teaches how to cooperate with other people, how to create something out of tips you got from the client.

As are you working in a team for a project? What are the mechanisms and how it divided the work?

Yes, now I always work with my team: hair stylist, makeup artist, stylist, retoucher. Every one has a very important role to play and because of our team work the pictures can be so great. And I love to work with people from my team, it’s always so fun!

What are the most important projects for you? Future ones? And those that you'd like to realize?

Hard to say... I like most of my projects, but is any of them more important than the other? Every one is different. It’s easier to judge it from professional point of view – so the shooting for “Harper’s Bazaar” Romania would be very important, winning fashion category in Viva! Photo Awards 2013, working for Nivea... But I don’t think it’s so simple. I had a wonderful time creating every shooting and that’s important. I have many project in my head and I try to realize them. The project I would really love to shoot is called Connections – it’s a series of five photo shoots. Every one is set in a different country and every one shows different kind of human relations. I already have two of those series: Blackened Kiss shot in Krakow and Written in the scars shot in Bucharest. The other three will be set in London, Madrid and Los Angeles (if everything goes perfect!).

Almost two years have passed since our first interview, new experiences that can you share with us?

Really, two already? I didn’t realize! Well, of course, A LOT of new experiences. When we met, Georgia, I was just starting to shoot, didn’t have much experience. Past two years changed a lot in my life. I met many wonderful people, some of them are my dear friends. I moved to Bucharest for some time – the city I totally adore. And most of all – I shot many, many, many different projects.

In addition to fashion do you have other goals you want to achieve?

Actually, my main goals are fashion and beauty. I would love to develop my skills and portfolio, get better and better in what I do. And travel a lot. Work for new magazines and clients.

The craft of photography, tips for those who want to pursue this profession

I don’t believe there is a universal set of tips for someone who wants to become a photographer. My tips? Be patient and don’t give up. If something is your true passion, it will last.
